20 Years of Michelin Stars for Hakkasan Hanway Place

We are incredibly proud to announce Hakkasan Hanway Place has retained its Michelin star for 20 consecutive years and Hakkasan Mayfair for the 12th year respectively.

In 2001, the first Hakkasan restaurant opened in London’s Fitzrovia down an unassuming street named Hanway Place. Behind its doors was what was going to be one of the most defining, exciting and innovative Chinese restaurants in London’s culinary scene.

Within two years of opening, Hakkasan Hanway Place achieved a Michelin star accolade, making it the first Chinese restaurant to be recognised by the prestigious Michelin Guide. This year marks a milestone for Hakkasan Hanway Place, who now celebrates 20 consecutive years of Michelin stars.

Since establishing the brand in 2001, Hakkasan opened in Mayfair before expanding globally. Guests now have the luxury of dining in restaurants located in Las Vegas and Miami in the United States; Abu Dhabi, Doha and Dubai in the Middle East; Mumbai in India; and Shanghai in China. In 2022, Hakkasan opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and its first fully outdoor venue in Bodrum, Turkey. Hakkasan Mayfair, Abu Dhabi and Doha are also proud owners of Michelin starts.

Hakkasan celebrates authentic Cantonese cuisine with contemporary influences. Global Executive Chef Andrew Yeo’s passion lies in creating unique and modern dishes using traditional techniques and the finest quality ingredients. The wine list is one of the most influential in the industry, with an extensive programme of over 300 wines alone in Hakkasan Mayfair. The pastry chefs pride themselves on crafting desserts which explore classical European techniques and their relationship to the flavours of Chinese cuisine, while the bar team ride the waves of innovation, ensuring they are always ahead of the curve in a competitive industry.

However, Hakkasan is more than the sum of its parts: for many people who visit – for birthdays, special occasions, engagements – Hakkasan is the place where memories are made, and the restaurants will continue to be in people’s minds for many years to come.

We would like to say thank you to the exceptionally talented people behind the scenes at Hakkasan, from the expert team of chefs, sommeliers and mixologists to the tirelessly hardworking people front and back of house. Hakkasan Hanway Place are celebrating their milestone achievement with Armand de Brignac (Ace of Spades) Brut Gold NV champagne, which is now available for guests to enjoy by the bottle from the wine list.
